Annitori Quick Shifter
04/05/14 7:42 PM

Annitori Quick Shifter
-strain gauge microprocessor controlled quickshifter
-wires in between your coil packs
-Requires rear-sets
-uses an ignition interrupt and a strain gauge to sense pressure on lever and fires off a shift.
-seemless upshifts that occur so smooth. Ignition smoothing in the map APPLIES. :))) lol
Can't say enough about this shifter. Only ridden about 60 miles on it but so far I am stunned and blown away by its smoothness and functionality. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME KIT!
Priscilla is gettin there.

Clicky! for the sound of the Annitori.

Very nice C, I recently picked one of these up myself. Haven't been able to ride yet this year to try it out but it looks like fun for sure.

2:07 to hear the shifter under load, gears 1-6.

1:28 on this one, track video.

The Good , The bad and The OOOGLY!

Iv'e had a year since that time to test the HM quikshifter. It is identical to the Annitori except the HM offres much more precision in setting kill time and sensitivity (totally NOT needed even if you are a pro---but love the cool lookin' red module with digital display hidden under my seat). You'll notice in the last vid, at high rpm, when I tuck extra low, I can't get a positive upshift. There is not enough toe-lift in my leg and ankle wearing boots and leathers with the pegs set all the way up and me tucked flat down on the tank. I'm balled up about as far as I can comfortably go. This results in missed shifts. If this happens, my suggestion is just pull the clutch and glide over to the roadside. If you don't know how to match speeds between the transmission and motor, you'll grind,,CRU_CRCUNCH! If this happens on the track, well, you best figure out how to deal with it before you get out there.

The cure for missed shifts is not to adjust the sesitivity. Tried that and it doesn't solve the entire issue. What is required is to switch to 1up, 5 down GP shift pattern. I will be doing that this summer.

...also, the HM quickshifter has an automatic calibration function that adjusts for heat/cold contract/expand of the straingauge and shift rod. I'm sure the Annitori does the same thing. POINT: allow the shifter to calibrate at lower rpm if you do not use the shifter constantly or if there was aradical shift in temperature like a cold day or something like that. One more thing you can do to make the shifter work optimally.

Yeah, this is the Annitori RL-2 HM quickshifter. I haven't even come close to it missing a shift. I had it set in the amber or middle zone, then cranked it up to the red, or 'hard fast' setting, and she feels flawless. Has three modes, green, amber, or red. Red being the most sensitive to foot movement and the setting requiring the least amount of pressure to initiate a shift. Very solid, positive shifts. Absolutely love this puppy!

Oh don't get me wrong, I love mine as well. Just on my bike, you really NEED to shift it all the way in. A nudge will work with the clutch but the ignition cut is so fast with the QS, I have to make a definite shift into the next gear. Lower rpm is more flexible, it seems but to shift at 9-10.5k, my gearbox won't do any guesswork. It's either SHIFT or get off the pot!

Rofl! Yup yup! I see what ur sayin Rook! I actually backed of its sensitivity and aggressiveness to the amber setting. Seems to like the amber setting and it shifts nice and crisp even that 1-2 shift is good to go. In the red (most aggressive) mode, she will shift from 1 to neutral quick if ya aren't firm enough with the shift. I do see how the GP pattern would compliment this set-up. I am gonna try it! Just gonna have to shim the plate a little to clear even with the front heim joint inverted. I have to say, I like the way it performs sooo much, I was shifting just to hear it! It is freakin awesome! Just wicked bangin off them shifts. Fun shit!!!

Yes! Big advantage of the vortex, the rearsets came with two rods actually. Good stuff, ya need a longer rod for the gp shift pattern to work correctly. So the backup is nice.

Yes, it feels great, just need a good place to do it. I'm going so fast, I don't usually dare go to the top of second gear around here. Scares the crap out of people on the expressway!!

Yeah, but maybe you will need a longer rod if you are also going to all the way up and back with the rearsets??? Never tried...you might be okay with the longer Vortex rod. If not, you can order very atractice and lightweight anodized alum rods online. They come in just about any length you need. Not too expensive. $20, maybe. ProBolt has them. Annitori will sell you shift rods too. They are also a great source of tech info on this shifter.

I have been running mine 2 years and love it (HM version). Dynojet sells the rod in various lengths, if I remember correctly I used the 135mm size with vortex rear sets and it was a perfect fit.

Awesome! Thank you for the info guys! I really appreciate it! I am going to order an anodized rod the correct length for the gp shift set-up. Getting correct clearance to run GP shift is a little frustrating. Still can't quite get it to clear all the way around up and down shifts. Standard pattern is fine, but I'm running into clearance issues with the kickstand. Did you have to shim urs out Seno? Thanks again all!

Shim here

Cut here. Nobodies going to look at it so don't worry about how clean the cut is.

Diddle your rod till it fits right. My still just barely touches when the stand is down.

Dangit. Bodywork cut. I knew it. That's what I was fearing. I'll just make it a clean cut. Ur right, it's way under there anyways. Thanks Cornelius! Appreciate it. This pics clear it up. Was trying to avoid using shims on the plate, but, it's not too bad.

I already have a big hole in that lower plastic from last summers slide down the highway so I didn't really give a fuck about cutting it, it's already a damaged piece.

Next time I pull the plastics I'll clean it up. Forgot to do that last time during the excitement of installing my new exhaust.

Dangit. Bodywork cut.

It's not too much. Just a notch cut out of the back edge of the lower.

Cornelius! Appreciate it. This pics clear it up.

Yeah thanks Corn.

there are a few other threads that come up when you search "GP shift"on the forum search function. Those might help you too.

Hmm, why didn't you just loosen the shifter linkage and rotate it so it would work without cutting your plastic???

Okay!! Priscilla is now a GP pattern quickshiftin monster!
Thanks again to Y'all for jumpin in wih pics and advice and links! I love the vortex rearsets, here is why, I was able to fully convert to GP shift WITHOUT shimming the heel plates. Simply swap the main frame plates from right to left. The offset gives the clearance needed. This allows for a very minor bodywork cut to make it all work flawless. Even allows for a fairly relaxed 3 position down and 1 back peg position which is a little higher and rearward than stock, but not too extreme. Functions so much cleaner on fast upshifts. Gonna take some getting used to, it started to rain just as I fired her up for a test ride.

NOTE: when using this method, it is very important to utilize LONGER frame plate mounting bolts. Flipping them removes some of the threaded depth.
Also, swapping the heim joint to the outside of the shift bracket was necessary.

Thanks again! Little projects like this would be FAR more frustrating without the instant and expert advice always to be found here! You guys freakin rock!

Thank you sir! The combined shifter and rear-sets along with the new shift pattern have added a slightly harder edge to Priscilla's attitude. I can feel her vibing and lunging through the pegs... Roll on hard and... tap, gone. Feels smooth and seemless. Like the shifts are much more consistent with a tap. They happen soooo fast. I'm having to readjust my speed read on the road, end up WOT a gear high! Lol. Absolutely lovin it!
